Stop back and neck pain today with IDD Therapy

Why we suffer from back and neck pain

Back and neck pain can be caused by a pulled muscle or a ligament, sometimes with disc involvement. Pain can occur after lifting a heavy object, after a sports injury or possibly having poor posture. Spinal pain can start suddenly or may develop over time from repetitive movements.

Some back pain conditions are located at a particular level in the spine and this is where IDD Therapy can really help as it is targeted to a specific vertebral level. Our low back has five lumbar vertebrae and, most common, we see pain and discomfort at L4-5 or L5-S1 level where the low back meets the tail bone or sacrum. In our neck, we have seven cervical vertebrae and, most commonly, we see pain and injury at the C5-6, C6-7 level which is at the base of the neck.

IDD Therapy STOPS the pain

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is the successful, safe and gentle non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for back or neck pain.

IDD Therapy uses computer controlled pulling forces. The patient remains fully clothed, comfortable and relaxed whilst these forces are delivered on a special bed which gently distract (draw apart) targeted segments of the spine in order to take pressure off specific discs and nerves. At the same time, IDD gently stretches tight muscles and stiff ligaments. By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues we can decrease pain, improve mobility in the spine and allow the body's natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently. We can relieve pain caused by muscle spasm and alleviate nerve compression and irritation caused by bulging discs.

At Back into Shape Clinic, IDD Therapy is used as part of a multi-disciplinary approach which is individually tailored to the needs of the patient.

When to consider IDD Therapy
Typical candidates for IDD Therapy are people who have back or neck pain and may or may not have referred pain into their arms or legs. They may be taking pain medication and may not wish to consider invasive treatments such as injections or even surgery.

The four goals of IDD Therapy treatment
•    Improve the health of the intervertebral disc
•    Rehabilitate supporting muscles and ligaments
•    Realign spinal structures
•    Release pressure on nerves
